What is an Ignition Interlock Device?

SLC Ignition Interlock Device Defense AttorneyAn ignition interlock device (IID) is wired to your car’s starter and requires an individual to blow into the device before starting the engine. The vehicle will not start if the device detects any amount of alcohol on the driver’s breath. IIDs must be installed and calibrated by a provider that is certified by the state of Utah. All ignition interlock device costs, including installation and monthly fees, are the responsibility of the offender.
